The rain has gone on for weeks now, it seems. After being threatened with possible floods last week, it looks like it isn’t going to ease this week.
Luckily, the kids have been keeping themselves amused. I guess, the great thing about having a large house is that there’s plenty of room to play. They have their bedrooms, they have the TV room, the living rooms, and an undercover outdoor area.
Today, the girls came downstairs dressed up in (what they call) “booby tops” and long skirts (or two skirts on top of each other), and beautiful diamond tiaras in their hair (real, of course). They insisted they were mermaid princesses and Paddy was their merman brother. They ran about the house, pretending to be swimming through their underwater kingdom, riding seahorses, and hiding in their underwater caverns.
The beauty of all this was that Paddy loved playing with them as well. He is old enough now to join in with his siblings whenever they play, and he even gets into character. He mimics what they do, he repeats what they say. This is his way of learning, and he is learning fast.
He will only be 2 for a short period of time. Before I know it, my baby will be going off to school, and then learning to drive, and then having a family of his own.
My babies – they are growing up much too fast. In the blink of an eye.
So I am loving this photo a day project, so I can capture that “blink of an eye” moment in their lives, and keep it as a memory forever.
Because these memories are moments in time that I never want to forget.
