It’s not slave labour when you get your kids to do chores. And it seems that the more kids you have, the more chores arise.
In fact, all kids should be encouraged to do jobs around the house. My kids get money to bank every Tuesday, and so they need to earn it in the first place.
Most of their chores are things like making their beds, cleaning up the media room, putting their plates in the dishwasher, helping wash the car, sweeping the floors, or putting their dirty clothes in the laundry.
But today, Paddy wanted to vacuum. He loves the vacuum. He is in awe of the sound it makes, and the fact it can make things “disappear”.
He’ll be a good husband one day, just like his Dad. Because sometimes it pays to start them young so someone else benefits when they’re older.
