The holidays seem to roll around faster the older you get.
It was only a couple of weekends ago that I was picking up all the Christmas wrapping and stuffing it into large garbage bags, hoisting what looked like oversized, lumpy sausages to the rubbish bins.
As for New Year, if I remember correctly I slept straight through it. Yes, I blame age and the fact I have 4 young kids who insist on rising early every day for that fact.
Australia Day was only last week, with a good ole’ Aussie BBQ at our new home. Cue some good friends and their kids, plus a bit of classic Aussie music, and it resulted in a pretty fantastic day.
And this past weekend saw us celebrating Saraya’s 4th birthday and Julian’s 40th.
At least, that’s how it seems to me. Time is going by so quickly. Because it’s already Easter, and the kids are practically comatose after consuming too many easter eggs, and I am planning my workout strategy for the weeks to come after enjoying too much good food. And wine.
But it was worth it. It has all been worth it. I just wish it would last longer than a day. And I wish my year would feel like 365 days, rather than just a couple of weeks.
Because before I know it, I’m going to be 50 and that’s another 10 years of my life that I don’t want to fly by. So I’d best get out there and make the most of the rest of my life.
