It’s so hard, as a mum, when your child is sick.
Whether it’s a terminal disease, a stomach bug, or a head cold, it’s hard because you just want to make them feel better and you can’t. It’s the one time us mums are almost completely helpless. In the case of a cold or gastro, you just have to let the bug “run its course”, and hope that your child only feels crappy for a day or two.
Paddy has been sick for 3 days. With a runny nose, terrible cough, and fever, he really does feel awful. And he looks awful. His nose is red raw and his cheeks are red-rashed from constantly wiping the contents of his snotty nose across it. He has slept for a few hours each day, and a solid 12 hours each night. And he hasn’t eaten since yesterday morning, unless you count the copious amounts of snot that he has been swallowing. No wonder he is feeling nauseous.
It’s not a case of ManFlu – he’s way too young for that! That’s something that the older male species suffers from. No, this is a typical head cold, the kind that throws you and lands you horizontal for days. I just hope he feels better soon, if only so his poor sore red nose can recover.
In the meantime, can someone please pass me the Demazin?
