She wants to swim for Australia one day.
When asked why she wants to swim for Australia, she replied “Because I want to swim for my brother and make him proud”.
And what will she do with her medal?
“I’m going to give it to James, so he can keep it in his room and be proud of me every day”.
She’s 7, but she knows he will never be able to swim for his country. And she knows it hurts his heart to think about it. So she wants to swim for him instead.
It doesn’t matter what she does, he will always be proud of her. We all will be.
But she doesn’t care – she wants to do it for her brother, for the best friend she’s ever had.
She would do anything for him, because she “gets it”. So many adults don’t, but she does.
And she’s only 7.
