Another month, another 5 on 5.
And I’m late to post again!
It’s school holidays here at the moment, mid year break for the kids. Two weeks of freedom from school runs, packing lunches, and laying out/washing uniforms. Two weeks of “sleep ins” and spending time with my kids. I never thought I would say this, but I really love school holidays. These holidays, I have taken my 4 kids and driven 700km (450 miles) south to see my family – my parents and my brother & his family. Unfortunately Julian couldn’t join us, but we are picking him up from Sydney this Friday (he flies down this week) and spending the day with his parents, then making the long drive home together so we can get the kids ready for school on Monday. And then the holidays are over. Does anyone else think they go too fast?
Anyway, it’s been a very busy month.
We started off with Charlyse’s 9th birthday. I can’t believe my princess is growing up so fast!Luna, a 14 week old Border Collie/Blue Heeler/Kelpie, joined our family. And she’s now part of the furniture (she also CHEWS the furniture!).Caningeraba State School had their annual sports carnival. Three days of sitting in the sun, watching the kids try as hard as they could in each sporting event. James even attempted long jump, an event he will most likely not take part in ever again, due to Duchenne quickly robbing him of yet another ability. I cried as he ran to the line, the pain evident in his face, as he was cheered on by his mates, only to stop at the line and ask his friends to stop cheering as he doesn’t want to be thought of as special (even though I know he is). It was a moment I will remember forever. We got out the big Lego sets that we bought for the kids months ago, and finally put them together. It keeps them amused for hours, in fact for days! And now we are down in the Hunter Valley, visiting my family. I love that the kids have such wonderful cousins and are finally getting to know them. Paddy and Hayden (my brother’s son), especially, have a wonderful friendship. They have so far had songs around the campfire, toasted marshmallows and made s’mores, played in the cubby house, had light-sabre fights on the trampoline, watched classic movies, and played together in the park. We will be sad to leave them on Thursday.
So that brings me to now, sitting here at 10pm finally writing my blog. Only two days after it was due. Hopefully next month I’ll be much more organised. By now, you should know the drill. Oh, and don’t forget to come back and visit next month! Ciao!
